Tomorrow's Mass Propers (11 Trinity)

Tomorrow's propers include the powerful parable of the two pray-ers - a Pharisee and a publican.

Coupled with the collect's petition for God's grace and the acknowledgement of the power of His mercy and pity, we are not only guided to the facts of what God has done for us in the person of Jesus, but also given a life focus of the Lord God and His mercy - rather than our supposed and oft-times self-declared righteousness.

In preparation for attending Sunday Mass, think on your normal inward, spiritual posture, when in God's House of Prayer.

Also, figure out what you would call each of the two men in the gospel narrative, if their names were taken from the below list of sins/virtues:

Sins/Virtues

Pride / Humility
Anger / Meekness
Envy / Brotherly Love
Greed / Liberality
Lust / Chastity
Gluttony / Temperance
Sloth / Diligence

Finally, consider the epistle fully, as it tells us "what happened" in Christ - that is to say, the gifts given by God through the Incarnation.
